Grab a ball of green yarn and make yourself, your kid or a geeky sci-fi fan friend some cute visitors from outer space! The pattern is really easy, so you can whip up a whole army in no time. If you have basic knitting skills, you can add a cute warm sweater.

Pattern is written in English, using standard US crochet terminology. I tried to keep novice crocheters in mind and included detailed instructions, many photos and useful tips and tricks.

*** SIZE ***
23 cm (9”) with antennae, using worsted weight cotton yarn and a 2,25 mm crochet hook.

*** DIFFICULTY ***
4. Advanced - suitable for novice crocheters, includes basic knitting techniques (optional).

*** SKILLS REQUIRED ***
Crochet: crocheting in the round, single crochet stitch, increasing and decreasing.

In this tutorial I will explain starting a piece with magic ring (adjustable loop), finishing a piece, joining pieces, joining rounds, knotting and hiding yarn tails.

Knitting: knitting in the round, cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, increase, decrease, bind off. I included links to outside knitting video tutorials in the pattern.

*** MATERIALS ***
To make this alien, you will need:

• Yarn. I used worsted weight 100% cotton, 96m/50g (105yd/50g) / worsted / 10 ply / 9 wpi. You will need about 45g or 86m (95yds) of yarn.
• Crochet hook, 2,25 – 2,75 mm (US size 1/B – 2/c) or according to the yarn.
• Stuffing – polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding etc.
• 15 mm (2/3”) safety eyes or buttons, beads, felt etc.
• Cotton embroidery floss.
• Yarn needle, scissors, stitch marker.

Sweater (optional)

• DK weight wool, acrylic, alpaca or their blends, you will need about 20g.
• Set of four double pointed needles, 2,25 – 2,75 mm (US size 1 – 2). Use the same size as your crochet hook.

Other materials and bulkier or finer yarns can be used to make a smaller or larger toy. Pick a crochet hook and knitting needles at least a size smaller than suggested on the yarn label.
