This is a fun to make and fun to wear hat that incorporates stranded colorwork and a little bit of cable in the ribbing to create a hat that will keep your head and heart cozy even on the chilliest of days. The hat design was born out of the need to make and mend hearts. I hope we all knit hundreds of hearts together.

All proceeds from the purchase of this hat pattern will be donated to Girl Up. A United Nations Foundation charity that focuses on empowering girls to reach new heights and to break barriers and to unite girls to help girls who suffer from gender inequality and great social injustices. This is a girl led and girl driven organization. Girls helping girls. An idea that is near and dear to my heart.

Materials: You will need DK weight yarn and approximately 135 yards of the main color and 65 yards of the contrast color. If using speckled or variegated yarns, make sure they don’t blend too much together as the heart motif might not be as noticeable.

Sizing: There are 4 sizes that will fit head circumferences from 18” - 24” (about teen to adult)

Needles: You will need a US size 4 circular needle for the brim and US size 6 circular needle for the body and US size 6 double pointed needles for the crown.
