The Allani Sweater is a drop shoulder cable knit sweater with an oversized cozy fit, designed to be a unisex garment. Named after the Bronze Age Hurrian goddess and queen of the Dark Earth, Allani is associated with death, the afterlife, and purification, bridging the world of the living with the realm of the dead.

The center cable, vertebral and bony in appearance, is complimented by classic cables and double moss stitch on either side to complete the sweater. The cable pattern is knit from the very beginning, presented along the front, back and both sleeves. Knit from top down, the back is shaped using short rows and the neckline is shaped along the front by picking up the front shoulders along the back panel. The back and front panels are knit flat until they are connected into the round at the underarm. The sleeves are picked up along the front and back panel and knit in the round. The collar is picked up along the back and front where neckline shaping was created, and knit in the round. There are options provided for varying hem, cuff, and collar lengths. Modification options for fit adjustment, length adjustment, and different yarn weights are provided.

The model is wearing a size 3 with 30 cm 12 inches of positive ease in blue with a chest circumference of 83cm 32½ inches.

The Allani Sweater is designed with 20 - 25 cm 8 - 10 inches of positive ease at the chest. Positive ease refers to the final garment measuring larger than your initial measurement. It is recommended that you steam or wet block the sweater when measurements are provided to ensure you meet the recommended measurements.

Sizes 1, 2, 3 (4, 5, 6, 7) 8, 9, 10 are based on a chest circumference of 65 - 70, 79 - 84, 89 - 94 (99 - 104, 109 - 114, 122 - 127, 132 - 137) 142 - 147, 152 - 157, 160 - 165 cm 25½ - 27½, 31 - 33, 35 - 37 (39 - 41, 43 - 45, 48 - 50, 52 - 54) 56 - 58, 60 - 62, 63 - 65 inches.

To choose your size:

  1. Measure your chest at its widest circumference, making sure the measuring tape is snug but not too tight. You should be able to fit a finger underneath the measuring tape.
  2. Add 20 - 25 cm 8 - 10 inches to your chest measurement to account for positive ease.
  3. Use the resulting measurements when selecting your size. For example, if your chest circumference measures 100 cm 39½ inches, knit a size 4.
