“Allegretto” nasce da due passioni che si armonizzano perfettamente: quella per i filati di Mette Mehlsen - tinti a mano con le piante - e quella per il twilly, un foulard lungo e sottile, capace di valorizzare qualsiasi outfit. Mette Mehlsen tinge i suoi filati con le piante che raccoglie a mano in natura nei luoghi in cui vive, nella parte occidentale dello Jutland in Danimarca, e integra le piante raccolte con cocciniglia, gramigna e indaco. La sua passione per la tintura con le piante è nata dopo aver lavorato con tessuti del 1800, tinti con le piante. Il filato tinto con le piante è magico perché tutti i colori e le sfumature si armonizzano tra loro e in questo modo si creano nuove possibilità compositive.

Il twilly è un accessorio piccolo e sfizioso: una sottile striscia di stoffa, lavorata con una tecnica di tessitura che intreccia i fili di trama e ordito per creare un motivo diagonale (twill), che dona resistenza ed elasticità, oltre a caratterizzare la texture finale. È un piccolo ornamento molto versatile: può essere annodato attorno al collo in vari modi o portato aperto o con un nodo appena accennato per creare un effetto cravatta disordinato, oppure può essere usato come fascia per i capelli o come cintura.

Il nome “Allegretto” è un omaggio alla tradizione musicale italiana. In musica “allegretto” è un tempo piuttosto veloce o moderatamente veloce, piuttosto animato e piuttosto vivo. Un esempio famoso è il secondo movimento della Sinfonia n. 7 di Ludwig Van Beethoven: Allegretto, appunto.

“Allegretto” is born from two of our passions that blend perfectly: the love for Mette Mehlsen’s yarns—hand-dyed with plants—and the fascination with the twilly, a long and narrow scarf that can enhance any outfit.
Mette Mehlsen dyes her yarns using plants she handpicks in the wild, in the area where she lives, in the western part of Jutland, Denmark. She complements these foraged plants with cochineal, couch grass, and indigo. Her passion for plant-based dyeing began after working with 19th-century fabrics that were originally dyed with natural materials. Plant-dyed yarn has a magical quality because all the colors and shades harmonize with one another, opening up new creative possibilities.

The twilly is a small and delightful accessory: a slender strip of fabric woven with a technique that interlaces the warp and weft threads to create a diagonal pattern (twill), which gives it both strength and elasticity, as well as a distinctive texture. It’s a versatile little adornment: it can be tied around the neck in various ways, worn loose or with a simple knot for a casually chic tie effect, or used as a hairband or belt.

In music “allegretto” refers to a rather fast or moderately fast time, rather animated and rather lively, less fast than allegro, between allegro and moderato. A famous example is the second movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7: Allegretto, indeed.
