The Allium Tank is inspired by the whimsical allium bloom—those tall, straight stems crowned with exuberant, globe-like blossoms. I wanted to capture that same effortless elegance and playful spirit in a tank that’s just as perfect for a sun-drenched day as it is for layering under your favorite jacket.

This worsted/DK design is built from the bottom up, starting with a hug of ribbing at the hem that melts into a shapely stockinette bust, thanks to gentle increases. I love the details: the straps are knit and seamed to the back for a neat finish, while the flirty ruffles are picked up and worked flat. A row of sweet, decorative buttons completes the look—my nod to a little country-chic charm.

Though the seasons are changing, the Allium Tank is still a terrific cast on! It’s worsted-weight fabric keeps the body warm, and it can be knit without the ruffle for easy under-jacket wear!

There are two versions of this lovely tank! Long with a minimized ruffle and buttons, or cropped with extra ruffles and a sweetheart neckline. The options may be mixed and matched.

See the attached project page for the Flirty Allium Tank (cropped, sweetheart neckline and extra ruffly)
