This pattern was originally published as a six-part crochet along on The Hazelnut Skein. Now it is available in one easy-to-follow PDF.

This crochet combines two things I like: filet crochet and joining as you go.

Filet crochet is a technique that allows you to work from a graph to make a design from either the positive or negative spaces. Using this technique, you can basically make anything you want. This seemed like the best way to make my alphabet blocks.

Joining as you go is an important element for me. I HATE sewing together squares at the end of a project. This pattern eliminates that.

Also included are patterns for two optional borders.

This pattern is also available for free in 6 parts at https://www.thehazelnutskein.com/crochet-along-cal/
