A simple top-down crochet hat pattern using a modified Alpine Stitch for the body and attaching a simple Single Crochet ribbing at the bottom of the hat. Great for a quick textured project.

Currently the pattern is written for an average adult medium size fitting a head around 22” in circumference. Using the smaller hook size helps make the ribbing a bit tighter to help keep the hat better fitted to stay on well.

If you want to use two different colors, you will need about the following amount of each skein of both colors (Main Color: ~53 g/~122 yd, Contrasting Color: ~45 g/~104 yd). If using the same color for the hat throughout you will need just over 1 skein of the main color. Also looks great substituted with a faux fur pom pom rather than a yarn pom pom :slightly_smiling_face:

Please note the measurements above are using Lion Brand Wool-Ease yarn as a measurement, your g/yd will vary depending on the yarn used.

Gauge will vary depending on if you’re working on the body of the hat or the brim:

Body of hat: 2” x 2” = 8 st, 6 rows
Brim: 2” x 2” = 9 St, 10 Rows
