Looking for a change in pace? Do you have hibernatingust shawls because the rows have become so long that you can’t face finishing them? Is the excitement from the initial cast on gone? This just might be the project you are looking for. This shawl is worked from the bottom up. You start by casting on a larger number of stitches and working the long scallop border while the “new project” feeling is still at it’s height. Once the border is complete, you switch to the garter and eyelet sections and begin decreasing stitches! Because it’s garter, the wrap from swt short rows blends in with the fabic and does not require any extra work to try to “hide” them.

Three stitch markers are used to help with short row shaping plus an optional 22 stitch markers if you would like to separate pattern repeats on scallop border. Border pattern is fully written and charted to allow for individual differences. Short rows are written only. A row/stitch count chart is provided to help track your progress on short rows.

While the original design was completed using DK weight yarn, this design is suitable for any weight yarn. Just use a needle size that gives you the drape you like and take in to account that yardage requirements will be different.
