Alstrom is a summer top knitted with Knit Picks Hawthorne Sport Multi Yarn. The yoke is made from Fremont and the body is made from Montavilla. The shirt is slightly loose fitting and knitted sideways to create the vertical stripes effect, similar to the stems of a bouquet of alstroemeria flowers. Short rows build the body shaping below the waist. The top portion is knitted in the round. Stitches for this one-piece yoke design are patterned using a modified wheat stitch with alternating purl ribs. The yoke sizing is accomplished by adjusting the count of purl stitches between the individual wheat stitches until only the wheat stitches remain. The pattern contains row by row instructions. A perfect quick-knit, easy for the intermediate knitter.

Material needed: Knit Picks Hawthorn Sport, 2 skeins Montavilla/2 skeins Fremont (2/2, 3/2, 3/2, 3/2, 4/3, 4/3).
Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy cast on and bind off are used and links to her videos are provided.
