Inspired by the different layers found in rock formations, a variety of Tunisian stitches are worked in one or two colours to create different textures and interesting patterning.

Pattern includes links to tutorial videos for all the stitches used.

Size
Finished shawl approx. 208cm x 46xcm (82” x 18”)

Yarn
Dragon Hill Studio - Ashby DK
70% Bluefaced Leicester, 20% Silk, 10% Cashmere

Alternatively, you can work the shawl in 2 colours (or add an extra colour and use 4!)

Hook
7mm Tunisian hook (or size required to get gauge)
You will need to use an interchangeable Tunisian hook at least 50cm (20”) long.

Gauge
14 sts and 14 rows in Tunisian Simple Stitch over 10cm (4”)

Construction:
The shawl is worked sideways, starting with a small number of stitches. You can choose to work more or fewer repeats of each section as desired (note that this may affect the amount of yarn required).

Difficulty
The pattern includes links to tutorial videos for all the stitches used so as long as you have done a little bit of Tunisian crochet before, you should be fine.
