A triangular shawl with a brioche border and panels, separated by two-color garter stitch. The sample is knit with one skein of fingering/sock weight yarn and one skein of silk and mohair lace weight yarn, creating a light and airy fabric that is somewhat sheer.
Size and finished measurements
Finished measurements: 225cm/88.5” along neckline edge, 56cm/22” at deepest point.
Skills required
Some Brioche knitting experience is useful, but not necessary.
Gauge
Measured over garter section as worked in pattern over 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4” after blocking: 20 sts x 36 rows.
Materials
One skein of fingering weight yarn (425m/465 yards per 100gr). Sample uses Olann Sock Lite in Passe. One skein of lace weight silk mohair yarn (450m/490 yds per 50gr). Sample uses Olann Silk Mohair in North Star.
Needles: 3.25mm/US size 3 - 100cm/40” circular needles. Adjust size to match gauge.
Notions: 4 distinct markers, noted in the instructions as markers A, B, C, and D, one removable marker for brioche decreases
Notes
This shawl is worked sideways, increasing and decreasing stitches along the bottom edge of the shawl to create the triangular shape. Please make sure to keep the edge stitches loose, in order to be able to block the shawl into shape.
