THE STORY
There are some incredible women who make up this knitting world that I’m so lucky to be part of. This shawl celebrates the blending of all of the talent across the industry - and hopefully brings you some squishy knitting joy!

This shawl is knit up using 3 skeins of either fingering weight or DK weight yarn (the pattern provides instructions for both) and is designed to be accesible to all knitters (see the list of required skills below).

MATERIALS
Fingering Weight Version (yellow/pink/purple)

  • Hedgehog Fibers Sock Yarn (90% merino wool, 10% nylon; 437 yds/400 m per 100g skein): 1 skein ‘Dijon’ (yellow speckled)
  • Ritual Dyes Maiden (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 400 yds / 366 m per 100g skein): 1 skein ‘Abalone’ (pink speckled)
  • Yarn Carnival High Wire 3-Ply (100% superwash merino; 490 yds / 448 yds per 100g skein): 1 skein ‘Winter Morning’ (purple speckled)
  • US 5 (3.75 mm) 32” / 80 cm circular needle
  • Locking stitch marker (optional)
  • Row counter (optional)
  • Tapestry needle

DK Weight Version (mint/aqua/saffron)

  • Ritual Dyes Priestess DK (100% merino; 250 yds / 229 m per 100g skein) 1 skein each: ‘Tidings’ (mint speckled), ‘Sea Folk’ (aqua speckled) and ‘Pyrite’ (saffron/gold tonal)
  • US 8 (5 mm) 32” / 80 cm circular needle
  • Locking stitch marker (optional)
  • Row counter (optional)
  • Tapestry needle

FINISHED SIZE
62 (55)” / 157.5 (140) cm at the neckline edge, 29.5 (25)” / 75 (63.5) cm from neckline edge to center point

PROJECT GAUGE
26 (21) sts and 54 (36) rows = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch worked flat, taken after blocking

NOTES

  • This shawl is worked flat from cast on tip to bind off edge (schematic provided). Written instructions are provided for the entirety of the shawl (charts are not needed).
  • Adjust needle size as necessary to match gauge. Although gauge is not critical for this project, a looser gauge than noted will result in the use of more yardage.
  • The Fingering weight instructions are provided first with the DK weight instructions in parentheses. When only one set of instructions is provided, it applies to both weights.
  • To save on yardage, it is recommended to carry the colors loosely up the side of the work during the color shift rather than breaking at each color change.
  • When choosing colors, it is recommended to look for colors/speckles that are similar from one skein to the next. For example, in the Fingering weight shawl, the pink speckled matched the pink speckles in my yellow skein; and the purple skein matches purple speckles in my pink skein. I chose to shift from lightest to darkest but get creative! Just choose your 3 favorites and go for it!
