Amber Road was an ancient trade route connecting the Roman Empire with the the Baltic Sea coast. Celtic and Roman merchants travelled far north since the 1st century. It was a long and dangerous way but no danger or hardship could stop the merchants’ determination to trade their goods - olive oil, wine, goods made of bronze and - yes! - wool, for what they called “the gold of the north” - Baltic amber.

Today, 2000 years later I proudly present my first lace design. Made with Italian wool, embellished with amber beads, Amber Road is a classic triangle lace shawl.

The pattern is quite simple, suitable for beginners. I’ve worked hard to make it as clear as possible, I am, however, a beginner myself so if you find any mistakes or need help, please contact me on Ravelry.
