Special Techniques
Helical Knitting:
This sock is knit from the top down and will naturally form a helix in the lower leg, gusset area, and foot as long as you do NOT twist the two colours together at the beginning/end of the rounds.

Helical knitting (or helix knitting) is a circular knitting technique used to work single-row stripes or blend hand-dyed yarns without a visible color transition “jog”. By working yarns in a continuous spiral rather than closed horizontal rings, it eliminates stair-step lines on the right side and loose floats on the back. In helical knitting colours “chase” each other around the sock.

The gusset for this sock is placed on the sole of the foot and the sock features a start toe with decreases hidden in the stitch pattern.
