This shawl is inspired by the sand dunes, waves, and amber of the Curonian Spit, the longest Coast of Lithuania. The Curonian Spit is a narrow peninsula that separates the Baltic Sea from the Curonian Lagoon. The northern part of the peninsula belongs to Lithuania. The southern part belongs to Russia, even though it is far from the mainland of that country.

The spit has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
