This unisex hat is worked from the brim to the crown. Using only one skein of yarn (or less!), it’s a quick knit when you need a hat in a hurry. Beginning with a garter rib brim, the hat features columns of slipped stitches that transition seamlessly into the crown decreases.

The pattern is available in five sizes, with a finished circumference of 16 (18, 20, 22, 24) in./40.5 (45.5, 50.5, 56, 61) cm and height of 5.75 (6.5, 7.25, 8.25, 9.25) in./14 (16.5, 18.5, 21, 23.5) cm.

To knit his pattern, you will need to know how to:

  • knit and purl in the round,
  • slip stitches, and
  • do basic decreases (ssk and k2tog).

In addition to the yarn and needles listed, you will need one stitch marker and a yarn needle to complete the pattern.

Approximate amount of yarn needed for each size:
Infant: 70 yds./64 m
Toddler: 80 yds./73 m
Child/Teen: 110 yds./100 m
Adult Small: 130 yds./119 m
Adult Large: 170 yds./156 m
