Amelie the Butterfly loves soft, pretty colours. She spends her days searching for the most beautiful flowers.

Amelie is an intermediate amigurumi (crochet) pattern written in English using US (American) terminology. The pattern includes detailed instructions in an easy to follow layout but a knowledge of basic crochet stitches and techniques used to make amigurumi is essential.

Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item. My Amelie is approx. 16cm tall x 15cm wide.

You will need:

• 2.5mm hook/C-2 (US)
• 8ply yarns/DK – 50g PEACH, less than 50g PURPLE, LILAC, SOFT PINK & CORAL
• BLACK embroidery thread or 4ply yarn
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle
• Polyester toy stuffing
• Stitch marker (optional)

Notes:

• Amigurumi is usually worked in the round and a yarn with no stretch is best.
• When changing colour, pull through the new colour on the stitch before you need it. This will ensure that you have the correct colour yarn on the hook for the upcoming stitch.
• Generally, the hook you use for amigurumi will be a smaller than for other crochet as you want the stitches tight.
• Your tension, yarn thickness and hook size used will affect the size of your finished item.
• I’ve used Hello Knitting Yarn (DK Cotton) in the following colours: o PURPLE = Lilac 139 o LILAC = Lilac 141 o SOFT PINK = 161 o PEACH = 109 o CORAL = 112
