This cardigan fits a wide range of sizes and body types. The waist is adjustable and the striping effect (provided by the ribbing) fitted cross-wise on the torso gives the illusion of a (smaller) waist. This is a great pattern for plus size women as well.

For reference, in photos, plus size model is wearing a size Large, bust is a 44” and model does not have a waist.

This cardigan, with reversible cables, is constructed partially in the round and has set-in sleeves. Sleeves have sleeve caps to make a better fit than a “drop-shoulder” type of sleeve (i.e. no bulk in the underarms).

A NOTE ON SIZES: XS 14” across back (S 15.5” across back, M 17” across back, L 18.5” across back, and XL 20”across back), (XS 35.5 cm, S 39.25 cm, M 43 cm, L 47 cm, XL 51 cm). How to measure for correct size: Wear a t-shirt that fits nicely in the shoulders (no dropped shoulders). Measure across back from sleeve seam to sleeve seam. Round up or down, (go with smaller size if in doubt). No ease.

Cardigan can be knit in 100% wool, but adding some bamboo or silk is a nice touch and provides a nice sheen. If other types of yarn are used it will affect the elasticity and drape of garment and may not provide the desired result.

Yarn: Sport weight wool/bamboo blend, 2000 (2200, 2200, 2500, 2500) yds, or 1850 (2011, 2011, 2280, 2280) m. Some adjusting is to be done along the way - yardage will vary.
