Inspired by handknit high fashion, Anastasia’s Cardigan is a delightfully simple, colorblocked, open-front cardigan with inclusive sizing. The body is made up of rectangles with no shaping and provides a perfect canvas for customization.

The body is seamed at the sides, so colorblocking can be accomplished without complex techniques, and it gives the option of either seaming the shoulders or joining them with a 3-Needle Bind Off. After seaming, sleeves can either be picked up and knit in the round from the top down or knit flat from the bottom up and seamed as well. The only shaping used is at the cuffs of the sleeves, to create the gathering at the wrist.

To complete the sweater, you’ll add a ribbed edging—use the optional sixth color here if you like. For an extra touch, decorative faux seams or embroidery can be added to the completed sweater. It’s an incredibly beginner-friendly knit garment—perfect for knitters who are ready to move beyond accessories but find more complex, finer-gauge sweaters intimidating.
