Andi April ©️ Is the fourth doll in a yearlong series of dolls. Each month in 2020, you can make a new doll to accompany Andi and all my dolls, feature different, changeable clothing, hair and face techniques.

Andi is a sweet doll with a removable dress and sandals. She is my basic doll pattern with a messy bun her hair is only two rows around head and then gathered up, so the hair is one of the simplest hair styles of my dolls. So, with Andi you get the basic doll pattern, the dress, the sandals, a small hair bow and my photo tutorial on making the basic doll form. Her PDF is 15 pages.

I have poured my heart into these creations to help you make custom dolls for yourself or someone you love. Use these patterns alone or in combination with each other to make the perfect doll for anyone. Continue to read below for some highlights about each doll to choose which month/doll is just right for you.

Want to use your own creative skills with my basic doll body? I have also written a simple pattern for just my basic doll body so that you can custom make your own doll with your own hair/clothes/face etc. These dolls range in size from 17-22” – so, most of the 18” doll clothes you can find online should be able to be modified to make your dolls a complete wardrobe. Each of my dolls has either clothes that are crocheted to the doll or removable clothes that can be interchanged and swapped across my patterns.

My dolls all feature different hair and face techniques to make a doll for multiple age groups.

And BEST of ALL – MOST require very little sewing as MOST have the heads as a continuation from the body.

All of my patterns are written using US Crochet Terms.

Materials for Andi:

These dolls are designed to have stash-busting in mind. For many parts of these dolls you only need the smallest scraps of yarn. Even for the skin parts, you won’t need that much. I encourage you to dig through your stash pile. When you need larger amounts, I will make note of these on all of my dolls.

My Calendar Kids ©️ range in size from 17-22”, but your size may vary depending on the yarn and hook that you use.
-Hook: I used a G/4mm hook for this for the most part. Any changes will be noted.
-I typically use Caron One-Pound for all of my Amigurumi, Dolls and Toys. It is a great, sturdy yarn that doesn’t get “splitty” when crocheting and it holds up well for little hands. I will note what my skin color is for each doll because Caron makes great skin tones! I will also note any different materials that I use.
-Caron One Pound in Off White was used for Andi’s skin tone. You will not use much at all of this. These dolls don’t require very much of the skein of yarn.
-I used some scrap yarn for her shoes and scarf. You will only need two small scrap balls in the color you want to use for the sandals. I used some of the pink scrap from her shoes to make a small hair bow.
-Lion’s Brand Jeans Yarn in “Corduroy” and “Capri” was used for the sundress. It will take the smallest bit from the skein for this.
-Andi’s hair is made up of one skein of Buttercream Luxe Craft Angel Hair in White
-Safety Eyes or buttons (or yarn to embroider if you choose) and needle to embroider face.
-Stuffing. I have used Poly-Fill brand stuffing, but feel free to use what you prefer.
US crochet terms used. Amigurumi style.

My patterns contain photo tutorials for most of the pattern/steps so these patterns are “advanced” beginner. You can do these patterns if you are a beginner as long as you follow along and look online for some helpful tutorials like invisible decrease, working in the continuous spiral and have a basic knowledge of amigurumi and stitches.

Jenny January – Jenny is one of only two of my dolls where the head is made separate from the body and then sewn on. In this pattern I have done some non-traditional increases and decreases to shape her face a bit differently. Her ears are puff stitches crocheted while you make the head so there are no ears to make and sew after. Her body is made like my other dolls. She is made with her boots crocheted on, but her dress is removable so you can change her clothes and/or make other clothes to go with her. Her dress pattern IS included in her pattern. She features long hair and a bun. Her PDF is 15 pages.

Fiona February – Fiona is a bit shorter than most of my dolls through the legs and torso. Fiona is made wearing her shoes and her jeans - they are crocheted on. Her head gets crocheted as you work up from the body so there is NO sewing of her head. You only have to sew on her arms. Her pattern gives you two arm versions. Fiona’s 16-page PDF contains the patterns for her t-shirt and beanie which are/can be made to be removable. Fiona has a lot of scrap yarn hair that is attached to a hair hat and there is a full tutorial with photos for this.

Melodie March - Melodie is one of only 2 dolls that is worked with a separate sewn on head. (Jenny January is my other doll worked with a separate head.) All of my other dolls are made with a no sew head that is crocheted up from the body. Melodie’s arms are a modification of my original pattern to be easier to make. There are not any thumbs to do after. She has removable cropped pants, slide on shoes, a “bra” or bikini top, t-shirt, sweater and her face is embroidered with nice large eyes NO safety eyes. Her hair is also simple. Crochet hair with NO loops or loose pieces. This is more baby and child safe and also a good option for male dolls. Her PDF is 19-pages with a lot of photo tutorials!

Mario May- Mario is one of two of my boy dolls. The other is Owen October. Mario has “built” in clothing. His pants and t-shirt are crocheted as the body so there are no extra clothes to fiddle with. He has his socks crocheted instead of the feet, but his boots/shoes are made separate and removable and perfect for all my dolls. Change the color up to make colorful high-top sneakers. His face is a bit different and his hair hat is also made a little different. This type of hair hat/hair is a great style for girl or guy with single stranded 4-ply worsted weight yarn and easily trimmed into any hair style. His pattern includes different boy “shoulder” shaping for that buffed look and also includes a back pack pattern that is great for all of the dolls.

Jasmine “Jazzy” June- Jazzy is a fun doll! She has some different shaping to her body that gives her nice curves. She is made wearing her shorts and tube top and has added patterns to make a beachy cover-up dress, a beach bag/purse, and sandals. Her pattern contains both of my arm patterns – one simple and one more advanced. Her hair is made from “real” hair you can buy at beauty stores – so, she is a great doll to make if you want to make a more grown up looking woman.

Jae-Lynn July – Jae-Lynn is the perfect doll to make if you are wanting to make a young girl. Unlike most of my dolls, she does not have “hip” shaping and a curvy body. She is made without hips, curves or breast. Her hair is simple. Her pattern has both versions of my arms, removable cowgirl boots and overalls and she is crocheted wearing her “undies.” She also features embroidered eyes so is perfect for the little ones. Her short overalls can be modified to be long. Her PDF is 17 pages with a lot of photo tutorials.

Amy August – Amy is another doll perfect for younger girls. She is crocheted much like Jae-Lynn July in that she doesn’t have the “hips” and “curves.” Her bodysuit and socks are crocheted as the doll body and her dress pattern is removable and in the pattern. Her pattern has a nice hair tutorial with lots of tips for modifying the hair. Her face is simple. Her shoes are removable. Her 17-page PDF also contains both of my arm versions.

Samantha “Sammy” September – Sammy is perfect for a sports fan! You can change her shirt to be any team color. Sammy is a little larger through the body than most of my dolls. Her PDF is 16 pages with both versions of my arms, changeable pattern for her jersey, shorts and a great hair and face photo tutorial. Her shoes are crocheted as her feet so they don’t come off.

Owen October – Owen is a movie star! He is my favorite doll of my 12 dolls. There is something quite mischievous about him. And his pattern is FULL. His PDF is 18 pages and includes patterns for his hoodie (that you can also do in other colors without the bottom ribbing to make a coat for the girl dolls), removable pants, shoes, and a ball cap that can also be made for the girl dolls. He is crocheted wearing a tshirt/tank top and underwear. His eyes are crocheted so he’s perfect for little kids. He is so handsome that I just can’t stop looking at him. If you are making a girl doll and need some more clothes, I recommend this pattern to help with hoodie/coat, pants, shoes and hat. You can always modify for size and color.

Nikita November – Nikita is so fabulous! She is a 14-page PDF with my basic doll pattern that includes both versions of arms. She is crocheted wearing her boots, pants, and sweater with simple body shaping. Her vest and scarf are included and removable and able to be made for any of the dolls. She looks so complicated and worldly, but her pattern is one of the shortest and easiest of all of the dolls.

Delaney December – Sweet Delaney is my basic doll pattern plus you get removable jeans that can be modified for all the dolls, a removable sweater, removable boots and beanie. She has a simple hair version that is great for young kids. Her PDF is 20 pages, but the last one is a final photo. The best part of Delaney is that 100% OF THE PROCEEDS FROM HER PATTERN GO TO THE WINGS FOR VAL FOUNDATION TO HONOR LT VALERIE CAPPELAERE DELANEY. This nonprofit organization honors her memory by inspiring women to soar!
