Immerse yourself in a color adventure inspired by the breathtaking features of Zion National Park with the Angel’s Landing Shawl. In Julie Asselin’s Journey Sport, you’ll find the terrain much more luxurious than some of Zion’s rocky inclines! This small shawl has it all: squishy garter stitch, wide stripes accented by streams of slipped stitches, bold herringbone, and the geometric mosaic colorwork created using only one color at a time. This beautiful shawl is one you won’t want to put down.

Construction Notes
This shawl is worked from one pointy tip sideways. A bias striping is achieved by using varying rates of increases and decreases, easily tracked in Knitrino row by row. There is no stranding in this shawl; all the colorwork is accomplished working with one color at a time. Larger needles are recommended for the Herringbone.

Yarn requirements
FOUR 50 gram skeins of sport weight yarn in different colors. We chose Julie Asselin’s beautiful Journey Sport and some of our favorite yarn shops have put together kits.

In Canada you can find kits at Mont Tricot & The Knitting Loft in an array of striking color combos.

And in the US you can find beautiful kits from Hill Country Weavers.

About Knitrino
Knitrino is a new knitting experience cofounded by two sisters who are creating modern tools to make knitting more accessible. Built out of love, Knitrino is like your knitting sister who is always there to help you grow into the knitter you aspire to be. We publish new “friendly” patterns from independent knitwear designers, with a focus on uplifting and connecting the knitting community. Knitrino is like Google Maps for knitting patterns: Click a stitch to see how to do it, highlight your current place, track your progress step by step, see charts in your yarn colors, see only your size, and more. Knitrino’s goal is to make knitting more accessible, and to help people grow into the knitters they aspire to be!

Knitrino is entirely self-funded and as such, had to start with core features knitters said they really wanted. We are far from finished, but knitters who try our interactive patterns overwhelmingly love them. Here is what a few new users had to say:

Nicole: “LOVE this app - made it so much easier!!”

Wendy: Keeping track and following a pattern in Knitrino is effortless in a way I didn’t know I was missing till I had it.

McKenzie: I am also super impressed with Knitrino. I thought working from an app would feel cumbersome, but instead it has made my usual pattern placekeeping system on paper seem cumbersome.

Devon : I have tried a lot of knitting apps and I love the functionality of Knitrino. You did an amazing job of modernizing knitting patterns! I really love the swipe to the next row. I can close the app and be back at the same place! The stitch explanation is out of this world! Thank you so much for taking on a project like this. This takes pattern reading to a whole new level!

Kim: “I’ve always been a paper pattern knitter and I really liked using the app and being able to keep track. Note keeping in the app is so easy. I like that each note posts with the current date without me having to check.”

Michelle: “I never want to knit another pattern that’s not in Knitrino ever again.”
