Band of hat is worked flat using short rows to create triangles and seamed in the back. Stitches are then picked up around the top and worked in the round. To create a more slouchy hat simply work more rounds between increase rounds.

The band of this hat is based on the Multidirectional Diagonal Scarf by Karen Baumer (also a free ravelry download). I wanted a hat to go with the scarf I made and this is what I came up with. I skein of Marble chunky made the hat and a scarf 30 stitches wide with 7 large triangles. I chose acrylic yarn because of it’s easy care, but this would also be great in a nice bulky wool.
