A festive winter hat featuring an intarsia antler motif to the front and a bright red pompom nose sewn neatly to the folded double rib brim. The design is completed with a brown and white pompom at the crown for a playful finish.

Knitted flat on straight needles and seamed, this Christmas hat is worked in double knitting (DK) wool for children aged 2–11 years.

Design: The hat is knitted flat on straight needles and a chart is provided to complete the motif.

Sizes: The pattern includes 5 sizes: 2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11 years old.

Yarn: Double knitting wool required (an alternative yarn for overseas knitters would be USA light worsted or Australian 8 ply).

The picture shows the hat knitted using: Robin Bonny Babe DK in shades: Cream (1366), Mink (143) and Red (042).

Skill: Intermediate. Written instructions provided, but experience needed to work from a chart for the motif.

Tension: 22 sts and 30 rows to 4 inches/10 cm (stocking stitch) on 4 mm needles or size needed to achieve stated tension.

Needles: Sizes 3.25 mm and 4.0 mm (USA 3 and 6) straight needles are required.
