Originally designed for Club Dragonfly, Antrea is now available as an individual download.

When given the opportunity to create a May design for Club Dragonfly, I thought about what I like to wear during transitional seasons. Because temperature is unpredictable from day to day and over the course of a day, I like to wear accessories that can be modified to provide more or less warmth as necessary. I also like accessories that are large because they don’t seem timid; I want my knitting to make a statement.

But things that are large, make a statement, and are easy to knit, well, that’s the trifecta, and this project hits the trifecta.

I think of Antrea as more of a garment than an accessory. It can be looped around the neck one or twice and pulled down over one or both shoulders for warmth.

Antrea is named after the first known fishing net, the remains of which were found in a swamp in Antrea, Finland.
