This pattern is available for free.

These socks look like something my grandmother would have knitted for the men in the family.

This pair of socks is knitted toe up and the pattern comes with a flap and gusset heel but instructions for german short row heel and afterthought heel are provided as well. The heel flap is reinforced.

The pattern is written for the magic loop method, but can be adjusted for double pointed needles.
