This is called the Any Way Cowl because there are an unlimited number of ways that you can make it. The written pattern shows three variations.

Variation 1 is done with a double sock blank 425 yards and produces a gradient stripe. The sample is done in Sangria colorway.

Variation 2 is done with a skein of Sock Hop sock yarn 370 yards in the colorway Mermaid speckle.

Variation 3 is done with a worsted yarn Mambo in the Brandywine colorway.

I love this pattern because it is simple and reversible. If you understand how it works, and I will try to explain this in the section “Hint to pattern-less knitting”, you can easily look it your work and know where you are in the pattern and what you have to do next. You can also adapt it to any yarn and any gauge by knitting a test swatch then doing some simple math, which I will also try to explain in the section “Simple Math”.

It is a very easy pattern, and because it is so simple you might be fooled into thinking that you can drink a whole bottle of wine and have no problems, but beware that it is easy to just forget a yarn over and find your self missing some holes.
