I’ve been dreaming of a wrap knit in White Gum Wool for quite some time. I’ve imagined a lofty, soft, and airy piece that will become a daily travel companion, keeping my neck warm while outdoors in an entirely new place, and providing comfort to my young children as they adjust to long days of exploration. I have deliberately kept the stitch pattern simple, the result of which is a beautiful fabric that suits any outfit with which you might pair it. AOMORI is named for the region on the northernmost tip of the island of Honshu, in Japan, the final stop before crossing the ocean to Hokkaido. This is a journey we will soon be making as a family, and as you knit up your own AOMORI wrap, my hope is that as you settle into the rhythmic progression of the stitches, you dream of outdoor adventures with your loved ones.

The sample has been knit in the colourway, “Sedge”.

AOMORI is part of the White Gum Wool Wrapped Collection.

YARN REQUIREMENTS
You will need 3 balls of White Gum Wool 4 ply. Please note that I have carefully worked my pattern so that you will only have a very small amount of yarn left over from your final ball. If your gauge is looser than mine, you may find you need slightly more than 300g of yarn.

ONE SIZE
Approximate finished measurements: 45cm wide/246cm long

GAUGE
28 sts/30 rows in pattern on 3.5mm needles, after blocking.

This pattern has been professionally tech edited, and has been test knitted.

Thank you to Lisa, for her beautiful images; Allison, of Kniterations, for her tech editing skills; Sally Oakley, of Sallyravels, for her time and organisation in putting this collection together; Nan Bray, of White Gum Wool, for yarn support; and my wonderful test knitters, for sharing their time and feedback.
