Apothecary Potion Bottle bundle
I ONLY sell patterns on Etsy and Ravelry. If you see any of my patterns anywhere else then they are stolen. My patterns are now all watermarked thanks to thieves. Thank you for supporting the real designer!
This bundle comes with three potion bottle options (Trapezoid, Hexagon, and Diamond) and two stopper options. This is the perfect starter kit for any budding magician! These bottles make great accessories for renaissance and fantasy faires, conventions, LARP events, or just decorating your apothecary shelf! When made larger they can also be used as trinket or dice bags. Bottles made with medium weight yarn measure about 6” tall (with stopper). Bulky = 7”. Super bulky = 8”.
This is an intermediate level pattern, written in US terms. I do include some instructions and video links to help out any adventurous beginners. It is a 24 page pattern with lots of pictures to help you along the way and has been tested by 10 amazing testers!
Supplies:
-Medium weight yarn is used in the smaller bottles in this pattern. I recommend a stiff yarn like Red Heart Super Saver. You can use larger yarn for larger bottles but I recommend using two strands held together when possible. For example, two strands of medium yarn held together to equal bulky weight, two strands of bulky weight to equal extra bulky, etc.
-Yarn colors: potion color, bottle color (unless you opt to have your potion fill the bottle to the top), optional base color for the Hexagon bottle, and stopper color.
-3.5mm hook or hook size compatible to your yarn size. I use a 4.5-5mm hook when holding two strands of medium weight yarn together and a 5.5-6mm hook when holding two strands of bulky weight together.
-Stuffing material (I use a mix of yarn scraps and recycled fiberfill). Not needed if making hollow bag.
-Tapestry needle
-Stitch markers
-Scrap cardboard (or base material of your choice) for the bases of the Trapezoid and Hexagon bottles.
-Optional: accessories like charms, chains, cord, patches, pins, etc.
-Optional: hot glue or fabric glue and optional fabric scrap. I use this to glue down the cardboard in the bag versions of the Trapezoid and Hexagon bottles since there’s no stuffing to hold it down. I glued a scrap of t-shirt fabric over the cardboard to create padding for the trinkets kept in the bag.
