Applesauce Top was originally designed for Yarningham’s magazine, Yarn+Stitch, released in Nov 2021. I’ve since added a sleeveless option, as well as altered the formatting to be in my own style.

This top was designed to be customizable. From the very beginning, you choose the two colors and decide if you want high contrast or subtle, then you get to decide throughout the top which colors you want for each edging. Decisions like these can make a huge difference in how your own tee will look, but you’re still creating the same Applesauce top.

It reminded me of the fall, and how nice it is to see all the varieties of apples come in; then experiment with making homemade applesauce. Each one comes out different, and yet each one is delicious in it’s own way. If you’ve never made homemade applesauce, I highly recommend it! It is so much better than the store bought, and you can make it to the consistency that you like!

Materials
Yarn
La Bien Aimée Merino Super Sock (75% SW Merino, 25% nylon; 465yds 425m/100g)

Sleeveless version
Color A: 390 (410, 430, 465, 510)(560, 610, 665, 720)yds/357 (375, 393, 425, 466)(512, 558, 608, 658)m in Andromeda (sleeveless) or RGO (cap sleeve)

Color B: 420 (440, 465, 500, 550)(600, 650, 700, 760)yds/384 (402, 425, 457, 503)(549, 594, 640, 695)m in Drogon (sleeveless) or Calcifer (cap sleeve)

Note about yardage: These yardages are presuming Color B is used for the neck i-cord edging and one of each color for the front and back hems. If you decide to use a single color for the front and back hem, the distribution will be slightly different.

Each Sleeve (Add sleeve yardage to Sleeveless yardage to get total yardage needed for the tee version. If you would like both sleeves to be a single color, add 2x sleeve yardage to one color. If you would like each sleeve to be a different color, add 1x sleeve yardage to each color.)
