This is an intermediate level 2 crochet pattern for a large crochet alligator. It is written in US terminology and uses metric measurements. This pattern is only available in English.

There are two versions of Appleton, and adult and a baby version. The adult version is made using aran weight yarn with a 5mm, size H crochet hook, and DK weight yarn with a 2.25mm, size B crochet hook. The adult version measures around 50cm long and uses about 180g aran weight yarn and 5g DK weight yarn. The baby version is made with DK weight yarn and a 2.25mm, size B crochet hook. The baby version measures about 30cm long and uses about 96g DK weight yarn. This is not a beginner friendly pattern. This is also a rather large amigurumi, as such it requires the production of various different pieces and will not be a quick doll to produce. However, because of its size and the fact that most of the pieces repeat a specific pattern, certain parts of this pattern are rather meditative and work up faster than you would think. In this pattern, I have included various detailed pictures (over 500) and explanations to help walk you through all of the steps to make this pattern. Note: You may have to zoom in on the pictures to see the details up close.

You should be familiar with the following stitches and skills for this pattern:

You may sell dolls made from this pattern as long as they are made by you and not mass-produced (mass production of this pattern is not allowed). However, please credit me as the creator of this pattern. Adding a link to any of my social medias or this listing would be greatly appreciated!

Please supervise children at all times when playing with dolls made from this pattern. Though the doll will be sturdy and resilient to normal wear and tear, with enough force pieces can come loose and pose a choking hazard.

My patterns can be of the following difficulties: Beginner level 1, Beginner level 2, Intermediate level 1, Intermediate level 2. Level 1’s are easier than level 2’s.
