Hand made crochet appliques can be used to embellish just about anything, from bags to jackets, from pillow covers to baby blankets. They will surely give all those items a lovely personal touch.

This crochet pattern describes in US terminology how to crochet a classic beetle car applique as shown on picture.

Size of the applique will be approx. 5.5” x 5.5” (14 x 14 cm), made of 8 ply / dk acrylic yarn and hook size G (4 mm). You can make smaller or taller versions of this applique by using thicker or thinner yarn. This pattern is also suitable for wool or cotton yarn.

Gauge is not important for this pattern, just work tight enough so your crochet will not show holes.

Used stitches : slip stitch, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet

Materials :

• crochet hook size G (4 mm)
• yarn in blue (appr. 20 gram), small amounts of black, grey, red, orange.
• stitch marker, tapestry needle, pins
• 2 pearl buttons diameter appr. 1,5 cm (0,59 inch)
• optional : matching colour sewing thread
