Our preemie daughter was born in May, but started to come in April. April will always mean preemie to me, and this design began as one for preemie babies only. It is sweet to have something pretty to put her in and a matching set that fits is a morale booster. The hat will also help maintain temperatures in a little one who can’t do it on his own.

Materials: 25 (55, 90, 140) yards / 25 (50, 85, 130) meters worsted weight yarn

Gauge: 20 stitches and 32 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch

Size: 3 - 5 pound preemie* (newborn, 6 - 9 months, 12 months)

about 32 - 36 weeks at delivery

Finished Measurements: approximately 10 (14, 16.75, 19.5) inches / 25 (40, 48, 56) cm in circumference at the brim

Skills Required: Knitting in the round, decreasing.
