The April Showers cowl is worked flat in a triangular shape, then the ends of the triangle are joined to make a cowl. The triangle is knit on the bias, in the same way as an asymmetrical triangular shawl, starting with a few cast on stitches.

For a cowl, the opposite point of the triangle are moved toward each other and closed with a little overlap, then secured in place with a tapestry needle, no seaming is necessary.

This cowl is knit in two colours in stripes to accentuate the garter and eyelet stitch patterns. The edge stitches are worked in the same colour pattern from the start to end using intarsia technique.

The sample is knit using one-ply fingering weight yarn which gives a fabric with a good stitch definition being at the same time soft and fluid. Choose the yarn made of wool or wool blends for the best result. It is recommended to knit a swatch to test the yarn before starting a project.
