This pattern yields a shawl that is light and airy, perfect for summer evenings or for anytime you need a light covering for your shoulders and arms. It uses a combination of two lace stitches, Open Honeycomb and Seaglass as published in the Loom Knitter’s Stitch Dictionary While the shawl does not have to be blocked, please note that the lace does open up beautifully with a light wet blocking.

Size: the shawl is rectangular, approximately 18” x 6’ after blocking, or slightly smaller without blocking.

Gauge: gauge is given for one of the stitches as a guide. However, as this is not a fitted garment, knitting to gauge is not essential.

2 identical files are available for download. One is 24 point font for low vision accessibility. This pattern has 24 point, all black, sans serif text, with no italics and fully written directions.

Materials:

  • a large gauge loom such as the yellow Knifty Knitter
  • knitting tool
  • row counter

Less than one skein of Lion Brand Shawl In A Ball was used.

Skills: cable cast on, e-wrap knit, purl, moving single stitches, yarn over with yarn in front, basic bind off
