Arboreta
Aquidneck Island is home to more accredited arboreta than any other community in the world. Our 27 beautiful arboreta, large and small, are helping care for a tree canopy extraordinarily rich in specimen trees on an island whose landscapes narrate the history of American landscape architecture, horticulture, and garden design like no other place in America.
The Newport Tree Conservancy provides the connections linking our arboreta to each other, to our schools and universities, and to the greater community. Along the way, we are witnessing gardeners becoming botanists, students becoming scientists, and an entire community working together to develop a world-class arboretum.
