The Arctic Bloom Socks are knitted from the cuff down and feature a traditional heel flap and gusset with reinforced stitches for extra strength. In the long winter season with deep snow, wool socks are worn often and need to stand up to heavy use. For best results, we recommend using a high-quality, locally produced sock yarn.

Yarn
Vuonue Pentti (70% Finnish sheep wool, 30% tencel) 262 yards / 3.5 oz (240 m/100 g)
MC Light teal / vaalea sinivihreä (1 x 100g)
CC1 Natural white / luonnonvalkoinen (1 x 100g)

Tukuwool Sock (80 % Finnish sheep wool, 20 % biodegradable polyamide) 350 yards / 3.5 oz (320 m / 100 g)
CC2 Hohka H20 (approx. 50g)

You can also use any other DK weight yarn for this project.

Size
Two sizes:
S (EU 37–39 / US Women’s 6.5–8.5): foot length approx. 23–25 cm (9–9.75 in), foot circumference approx. 20 cm (7.75 in)
L (EU 40–42 / US Women’s 9–11): foot length approx. 26–28 cm (10.25–11 in), foot circumference approx. 22 cm (8.75 in)
The foot length is easy to adjust by adding or removing plain (stockinette) rows.

Gauge
24 sts x 26 rows on US 1 (2.25 mm) needles.
If you have a very tight knitting tension, try using larger needles. However, socks should have a tight gauge to ensure better durability.

US 1 (2.25 mm) circular needles or double-pointed needles, depending on your preferred knitting method.
Stitch markers and a tapestry needle for finishing.
