The Arktikos Headband features bands of purls and bobbles reminiscent of latitudinal lines on a map. Arktikos is the Greek word meaning “near the bear” or “northern”, which is where the name Arctic was derived from. A strand of DK is held double with a strand of mohair to give this pattern extra softness and warmth perfect for braving our chilly Alaskan winters!

When you purchase this pattern you also will receive the pdf for the matching Arktikos Cowl!

Yarn
◦60-90 meters (65-100 yards) of DK-weight yarn
◦60-90 meters (65-100 yards) of mohair
This cowl is knit using a strand of DK held together with a strand of mohair. The soft, halo effect could also be achieved by using a single strand of a lighter worsted-weight yarn in a baby alpaca blend

Sizing
I provide instructions for 4 finished circumferences: 18”/46cm (19.5”/49.5cm) (20.8”/53cm) (22”/56cm). I recommend knitting the size that gives about 2-3 inches (5-8 cm) negative ease relative to your head circumference. Finished height is 3.2” (8 cm).

Pattern notes
◦The bobbles in this pattern are made using a crochet hook. Instructions are provided in-pattern, and a link to a video is also provided.
◦This pattern is provided both in charted and written formats.
