Do you remember Nemo’s reef? This shawl is inspired in all the different textures you can find in a reef, like waves, bubbles and corals. Arrecife is the Spanish word for reef.

The asymmetrical shape of this shawl is achieved with increases placed only at the right side. It’s made in four sections: the first one resembles underwater bubbles, the second and third sections look like waves in different sizes, while the final one uses the brioche technique to represent corals. The waves found in section 2 are repeated along the length of this shawl.

For the main color you will use one skein of fingering weight yarn. For the rest of it you can choose four different colors using less than 50g / 1.76 oz for each, so this a great stash busting project.
Gauge: 20 sts X 22 rows = 10 cm / 4”, measured over garter stitch after blocking with 3.5 mm circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge.
