This is a set of patterns that have the same base design. It is available for both interlocking crochet as for mosaic crochet (overlay).
Variation 1: This is the variation that is fully open squares. This is the basic technique if you do interlocking. Mosaic: overlay.
Variation 2: This is the variation that is partially solid squares if you do interlocking. Mosaic: overlay.
Variation 3: This is the variation that is fully solid squares if you do interlocking.Mosaic: overlay.

There is also a variation 4, which is in a separate Ravelry pattern. This version is for interlocking crochet only with slanted lines. You can that here: click here.

All mosaic versions are derived from the interlocking crochet version and look the same.
All versions, both interlocking as mosaic, have their own written instructions and pattern charts.
