After looking for just the right fingerless mittens pattern for some beautiful merino/cashmere fingering weight yarn I decided to design my own.

I have knit three pairs of these mittens in the three weeks since I designed them and each has used less than 50g of sock yarn - usually about 44g.

The mittens are knit in the round either on a 2.5mm circular needle and/or dpns (for the thumb stitches). In addition to the needles you will need a stitch marker, approx 8” of waste yarn and a darning needle.

Inspired by my all time favourite sock knitting pattern these have been designed using the stitch pattern used by Erica Lueder in Hermione’s Everyday Socks.

Huge thanks to Erica for her generosity in agreeing to me publishing my design as a free pattern for others to enjoy.

Erica also has a pattern for knitting DK fingerless mittens using the Hermione’s stitch pattern.
