*As If Tee 2.0 Update: I have updated the pattern (now the As If Tee 2.0) to include an expanded size range (finished bust/waist measurements 40 inches-64 inches, 101 cm-162 cm), yarn yardage/meterage requirements, helpful tips on managing the intarsia neckline, tips for modifying the pattern length, tips on color choice, and some corrections to the math to make the tee fit even better than before!**
If you have already started a project using version 1.0, do not worry! You will still have access to that PDF. If you’re going to start a new tee, I would definitely recommend trying version 2.0!**

Have you been itching to use mohair, but want an easy project to introduce you to the fiber? The As If Tee is a quick knit with an easy fit! The As If Tee uses both Aran weight and Machete Shop Kid Mohair yarn to create a breezy top that can be easily customized to your desired length and preferences.

This pattern is for the advanced beginner, and employs the following skills:

  • Casting on/off
  • Stocking/stockinette stitch
  • Picking up stitches
  • 2x2 Rib stitch
  • Mattress stitch (invisible seam stitch)

This pattern is very special to me, as it is my first published knitting pattern! As a self-taught knitter, and longtime crocheter, I love to create modern, fun, and easy-to-follow designs. This design stems from my nostalgia for the 90s and my love of Clueless. If you’ve ever seen the movie or TV series, Cher wears a tank top over a tee during gym class, which is indicative of fashion during that time. I wanted to recreate that look in a single piece that was knit flat, then sewn together. Thus, the “As If Tee” was born. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Be sure to check out my lovely testers’ project pages for additional notes and ideas, and don’t forget to share your progress on Instagram by using the tags #asiftee and #createandslay. Tag @knitandcroshay to make sure I don’t miss it!

A note about color choice: If you want to go for an illusion neckline, I would recommend choosing the same or similarly colored Aran and mohair yarns. If you want to go for a bold, color-blocked look, feel free to choose contrasting colors!
