A pretty and simple, crescent shaped shawl; a sister shawl to New Beginnings. The bands of lace patterning increase in intensity as the shawl grows and you move through the charts. However, you have the ability to make the shawl larger, or smaller, by repeating or omitting charts/sections and you can even change the order as the charts/sections are interchangeable. The first shawl, in Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, consists of four charts and the lace border and used 410m.

Included is a pattern for a garter-stitch version that could be knit in two colours.

It is a wonderfully simple pattern with only one pattern repeat to memorise that gives you the ability to play and to totally customize your shawl plus it has both charts and written instructions and, as ever, bead placement is shown but they are optional. Should you knit all charts A through to F and the Lace Border you will need 475 beads plus a few extra for those that invariably escape.

If you like my designs please join us in the Boo Group where you will find a place to discuss my patterns, show off your knitting and hear about KALs and MKALs.

Patterns already set up by KnitCompanion can be purchased, in the KnitCompanion Store, for knitters who like to use KnitCompanion, but prefer to have their charts already set up.
