This hat matches my Aslaug Socks pattern, which was inspired by one of Viking Ragnar Lothbrok’s wives, the Princess Aslaug. The pattern features four repeats of a strong lace panel centered amidst a bit of stockinette and divided by areas ribbing.

The ribbing and the lace give this hat a wide range of stretch. The smallest size could easily fit a child.

A mid to heavy fingering weight works best for the pattern. For lighter fingering yarns, it may be best to go down a needle size to a 2 (2.75mm) rather than a 2.5 (3mm).
