Asp Shawl
“Asp”
With 2025 being the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, I felt the draw to create some designs around her books.
This is the second one and is for Persuasion.
It is named after the first ship that was commanded by Captain Wentworth. He describes the ship as a ‘death trap” but one which bought him luck.
The shawl carries a wave pattern to depict the sea and can either be blocked or left as it is.
It is created in 4ply/sock yarn, and takes 1 skein of 100g/400m and 3 mini skeins 20g/80m of 4ply.
With the use of simple stitches a shawl that looks far more complicated than it is has been created for you.
I have written the pattern row by row so there are no complicated charts or loosing track of where you are.
I hope the pattern and finished garment brings you much joy in the making and wearing.
