The Astilbe Mini Scarf is inspired by the feathery sprays of astilbe flowers. Tapered tips mirror the shape of the plant’s plumes, framing this small yet striking accessory. The scarf is worked from tip to tip with built-in i-cord edging in a pattern that quickly becomes intuitive. The wrong side of the work is also pretty, which makes Astilbe a delight to style and wear.

Yarn

• Worsted weight, 100m (110yds)
• Sample yarn: mYak Baby Yak Medium (100% baby yak), worsted, 50g (1 ¾oz), 117m (128yds), in Flamingo
• The pattern can be used with lightly variegated yarns

Needles

• 5mm (US 8) straight or circular needles

Gauge

• 24 sts and 32 rows measure 10 x 10cm (4 x 4in) over pattern, after blocking
• Swatch to determine the needle size that achieves the correct gauge

Construction

• The scarf is worked from tip to tip. The first tip is shaped with increases worked along both edges, and the second with mirrored decreases.
• The body of the scarf is worked in a four-row repeat and can be easily adjusted to a desired length. The sides are polished off with built-in i-cord edging.
