The Dalecarlian horse, or Dala horse is a traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna. In the old days the Dalecarlian horse was mostly used as a toy for children, and in modern times it has become a symbol of Sweden in general.

This blanket is done in Interlocking crochet, and the pattern comes with instructions on the technique itself, plus photo tutorials on how to get started and how to make the colour changes.

I used a lot of colours, the pattern includes a list of all the ones used, and how many grams of each. It is easy to follow my colour scheme or just make your own colours, I added a “colouring page” for you to play around with your colour preferences.

If you are new to the technique, you can find my tutorials with a free downloadable pattern to follow here: Astrid’s Interlocking crochet YouTube channel
