Take Two, Collection One - Crochet is almost available! The premise of Take Two is that two designers (Fay Dashper-Hughes and Lynne Rowe) each designed four patterns. We then swapped patterns over and recreated them using different yarns, or hook sizes or changing small elements of the original pattern. Within the Take Two you get the original eight patterns and the details of the ‘take two’ designs, sixteen designs in total.

Auchincruive:
I spent four fab years studying Countryside Management and Conservation at Auchincruive College on the west coast of Scotland. This was when Braveheart came out, and I had a firm bunch of friends that were my college clan.

The cowl uses the simple but effective Thistle Stitch and is just the right circumference to be able to bury your face into it when the wind whips up. Had I had the good sense to learn to crochet back then, this cowl would have been an out and out favourite when we were doing conservation work on the college estate!

Yarn:
Erika Knight British Blue Wool (100% Bluefaced Leicester grown, spun, dyed and balled in England) DK.

The yarn comes in 25g balls (55m/60yds) and the pattern used:
50g of Fawn (101)
25g of Classic (38)

Size:
65cm circumference
16cm deep

Hooks:
4.5mm (7) hook for starting chain only
4mm (G/6) for rest of project

Time to make:
The cowl took me just four hours to crochet.

Gauge:
3 repeats over 12cm

Special techniques:
Crocheting in the round

This pattern is currently only available as part of Take Two (Collection One - Crochet)
