Auld Lang Syne is originally a Scottish poem written in 1788 by Robert Burns. The poem received its music and became a folk song used for funerals, school graduations among other things. In Norway, we listen to this song at Christmas but especially for New Year’s Eve as a way to say goodbye to a year and welcome a new one.
