Aurora Bears Mittens
Nanuq, Polar bear, Ice bear, Ursus Maritimus, Sea bear. So many names for a beautiful, enormous and terrifying bear. Well I’m going to add Aurora Bear because of the stunning skies in the lands of the midnight sun where they live. As cuddly and adorable looking as they are, I’m actually happy that I’ve never been near one. They are the only predator on earth other than the Bengal tiger that hunts humans on purpose. Even so, they look ever so huggable on a pair of mittens!
The Aurora Bears mitten knitting pattern is recommended for intermediate knitters familiar with reading charts and stranded colorwork, and has some duplicate stitch. The pattern is on a downloadable PDF digital file available immediately upon payment and includes easy to follow instructions and color design charts.
You can knit these mittens in any two contrasting colors but since they are white bears with the night sky I’ve used dark colors for the sky and bright green/yellows for the aurora. For the duplicate stitch on the bears i used a very white, fluffy, mohair blend.
The mittens pictured were knit using sock / fingering weight and US size 0 / 2mm needles for women’s medium size and US size 1.5 / 2.5mm for men’s medium.
I bet you can bear-ly wait to get started!
