The Australiana Slouchy Beanie is an Australian-themed hat inspired by the local area where I live. The Australian landscape is very diverse with lots of interesting flora and fauna. I am surrounded on a daily basis by tall gum trees, beautiful wildflowers, beautiful birds, kangaroos, and various creatures of all different sizes. For this beanie, I have included motifs that represent the gum leaves and gum nuts of the eucalyptus trees, wildflowers, and the beautiful laughing kookaburras.

The Australiana Slouchy Beanie is suited to a very confident beginner or an intermediate-level knitter. It is worked bottom-up in the round and features stranded colour work using two colours (background and a pattern colour).

The beanie is available in two sizes (adult and child) and is worked initially using circular needles and then double-pointed needles in 8ply DK weight yarn.

Skills used: Stranded colour work with two colours, catching of long floats, ability to read and use a colour chart, working in the round, crown decreasing.
